At Modern West, we are committed to supporting the environmental and social performance of our clients. We are in the fortunate position to be helping oil and gas companies achieve carbon emission reductions from technologies and services that are leading change to cleaner resource production. We do not take that fortunate position for granted. In an effort to bring environmental and social performance together, Modern West is pleased to introduce the One Million Tonne Club (1MM).

For every verified emission reduction our clients achieve, we will donate $0.01 to a local charity. The One Million Tonne Club has a target of achieving one million tonnes of cumulative, verified emission reductions for the calendar years 2020 through 2022.

Our support for a local charity ensures that the outcome from our work does not just benefit the air emissions profile of our clients. When a producer invests in Modern West to support their emission reduction endeavours, they are further investing into the broader community, providing an amplified benefit to emission mitigation activities.

The 1MM Club itself is a small ecosystem. An open community that relies on each stakeholder to contribute to the success of the initiative. We believe that this initiative captures the essence of strategic partnerships, technology innovation, and social good.

THE 1MM COMMUNITY

Staying true to one of our core company commitments, partnerships play a critical role in the One Million Tonne Club. Every step along the way there is an organization playing a critical role to the success of the 1MM initiative.

Tracking The Results

Every quarter we will update our performance as we track towards our goal of one million tonnes of verified emission reductions. We are already part ways there, so keep checking back to see how you can join our ambitious goal.

Latest Update: March 14, 2022

1MM CLUB MEMBERSHIP

Achieving verified emission reductions requires a lot of hard work and commitment from producer and midstream companies.

We believe their work can contribute to environmental and social impacts not just directly through projects that achieve emission reductions and support technical jobs, but now through an additional investment into an initiative that is in line with the corporate values of Modern West and our clients.

We continue to look for partners committed to the program’s objectives. We believe the opportunities are significant.

Having a diverse portfolio of project types, across multiple jurisdictions, is important to ensuring the continued growth of the program for years to come.

  • Waste Heat Recovery

  • Fuel Switching

  • Pneumatic Device Vent Reduction

    • High- to Low- Bleed Pneumatic Controller Conversion

    • Instrument Gas to Instrument Air

    • Pneumatic Device Electrification, e.g., Solar Chemical Injection Pumps

  • Solution Gas Vent Reduction

    • Utilization, Distributed Computing

    • Destruction in Clean Combustors

TECHNOLOGIES USED

Evaluating, understanding, and implementing current and emerging technologies is a core part of the exciting work we do at Modern West. While there are a multitude of technologies available for emission reduction projects in the oil and gas industry, the following list comprises the technologies currently generating reductions for our One Million Tonne Club members.

  • Bidell

  • Eagle Pump & Compressor

  • LCO Technologies

  • Northwest Equipment

  • Sirius Controls

Partnership

The One Million Tonne Club achieved 50% of the targeted goal of producing one million tonnes of verified emission reductions through the years of 2020 to 2022 in July 2021. To celebrate this milestone, $5000 was donated on the behalf of the One Million Tonne Club to Water Movement, an initiative assisting indigenous water operators to limit the occurrence of boil water advisories by providing a platform for these operators to learn & connect with their fellow industry peers and experts within the water sector.

Water Movement fills a void in an often-fragmented industry helping to bridge a connection with Indigenous water operators whose work is vital to the health and well-being of countless communities. Through the joint efforts of industry professionals and university students, Water Movement provides a collaborative online space where operators can connect, share lessons learned, and access training videos that act as educational tools. In addition to providing resources and an interactive collaboration zone for those in the industry; Water Movement seeks to raise awareness among the next generation through our youth program.

The targeted goals of Water Movement’s youth program are to educate students of all ages about water issues, introduce them to careers within the water sector, and assist schools in improving the efficiency of their water infrastructure. To achieve these goals, virtual and in-person workshops are offered through Lunch & Learn sessions, giving the opportunity for students to learn more about careers within the water sector from professionals within the field through virtual or in-person seminars, and with in-person wastewater treatment plant tours, showing students how these facilities work. Upon request, Water Movement will fundraise for schools to improve water infrastructure and install more efficient low flush toilets, automatic water fountains, as well as repairing water leaks.
